The Challenge
Dundrum town centre is Ireland’s largest shopping centre and attracts over 18 million visitors per annum. The Christmas season represents the busiest time of year for Dundrum and the centre wanted to create a Christmas themed visitor attraction. This customer experience needed to be something that would capture the attention of families in a hectic shopping environment. Dundrum also required activation features for their sponsors to be a part of this experience.

The Solution
vStream put forward the concept of using Dundrum’s outdoor fountain feature to create a digital water curtain. A 10 metre long, 7 metre high digital water curtain with video projection nozzles was constructed outside the shopping centre’s main entrance. An interactive element of the experience was introduced using vStream’s patented personalisation technology. A specially made film; ‘Santa and the Star Keeper’ was produced by vStream. Children at Dundrum could have their photo taken and become the stars of the movie. Bright stars with the children’s faces displayed on them helped Santa to land his sleigh on a cloudy night in Ireland. This film was projected onto the digital water curtain at dusk, along with sponsors’ logos, Christmas graphics and logos lighted with multicolour LED lights.
