Audi – Embracing VR & AR Technology
Audi is just one of the many global brands to have actively adopted virtual reality and augmented reality into their marketing and business practices. Here are a few examples of projects that Audi have previously been involved in using AR and VR technology. Including their most recent venture with vStream.
Enter Sandbox
Their ‘Enter Sandbox’ project allowed users to rally around a virtual recreation of a track constructed within a child’s sandbox. They have also released an AR smartphone app that is triggered from TV advertisements, having a miniature model of the car appear in your living room and drive around a customisable track.
Audi hopes to eventually launch a feature of this app that would act as a virtual showroom for potential customers. People will no longer have to visualise how the new Audi model would look in their driveway, just point your device in that direction and find out.
It is not just improved consumer engagement that Audi is turning to AR/VR for. They have also tested out how this technology can improve the infrastructure of their company. From training logistic employees in the correct packing processes using VR headsets to using AR and VR in their design and manufacturing stages.
Audi A7 AR Experience
Their latest venture into AR was developed by vStream. To celebrate the launch of the new Audi A7 Sportback; vStream created an interactive tour of the vehicle through the use of Microsoft HoloLens glasses, complete with an AI computer generated tour guide (Simone) to help you through the experience. Audi recognises the massive potential and inevitable mainstream use of these experiential technologies and are placing themselves in the best possible position to always be ahead of the curve.
