The ARVR Innovate 2018 conference took place at the RDS in Dublin, Ireland on May 10th. ARVR Innovate is Ireland’s only dedicated conference for augmented (AR) reality and virtual reality (VR).
The main aim of ARVR Innovate is to showcase the capabilities and uses of AR and VR, with the intention of promoting growth in the sector and spreading awareness of the developing technologies.
Notable speakers at this year’s event include; Barry Downes (Suir Valley Ventures), Dr Helen McBreen (Atlantic Bridge), Jian Gu (Alibaba), Andrew Jenkinson (vStream), Jan Pfluger (Audi) and Minister for Trade, Employment, Business, EU Digital Single Market and Data Protection Pat Breen, to name a few.
The keynote speakers highlighted the positive impact that AR and VR can have on businesses as well as people’s everyday lives. The benefits of this technology have nearly infinite possibilities. These opportunities, range from entertainment to sales and marketing to education and healthcare and everything in between.
Andrew Jenkinson, Co-founder of vStream spoke about the convenience that operating in Ireland brings for these kind of businesses. From the talented workforce available; to the hands-on backing from the Irish government in support of these ventures, the future of AR and VR looks bright in Ireland as well as worldwide.
vStream’s display stand at this year’s event was in association with Audi for the launch of the new A7 Sportback. The augmented reality interactive experience allowed attendees to discover features of the new model Audi like never before.
For the first time this year there was also a business startup section of the event; where newly formed companies had the opportunity to share their innovations and ideas with some of the industry leaders. The success of this event year on year will only continue as the technology and people’s adoption and enthusiasm for it continue to increase.
